Benito, born March 10, 1994, is a Puerto Rican singer and rapper. His music is loosely defined as Latin trap and reggaeton, but he also incorporates other influences in his music from genres such as rock, pop and soul.
He came from humble beginnings, born in a small town in Puerto Rico called Vega Baja. His father was a truck driver and his mother was a school teacher. He had always had a love for music growing up and sang in church choir until age 13. In high school, he began rapping and creating music. When he released his first album on SoundCloud he was working as a bagger at a supermarket and taking classes in audiovisual communication at University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo. source 1

Benito’s aim in his music is to stitch Puerto Rican reggaetón into present pop and bring the genre back to its full glory. One of his first mainstream Latin hits was “Amorfoda”. In 2018 he released his first full-length album X100PRE which incorporated influence from multiple genres, from rock, rap, reggaeton and pop, showcasing his musical range. Oasis was released in 2019 with Colombian singer J Balvin after previously collaborating on Cardi B's 2018 single "I Like It".His most recent album, YHLQMDLG, focuses on reggaetón and Latin trap music with beats that are more reminiscent of Puertorro caseríos (housing projects). Some of his major influences include Daddy Yankee, Vico C, Wisin & Yandel, Calle 13, and Tego Calderón. Many of his songs touch on topics such as anti-domestic violence, gender fluidity and equality. He is also an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights among other social issues. source 2
